Bert and Ernie’s relationship was modeled after the relationship of former Sesame Street writer Mark Saltzman and his life partner, Arnold Glassman. Glassman passed away in 2003, but their love will exist forever in the moments and dynamic Saltzman adapted for the iconic Muppets.
